Outside Magazine went in search of the “steep and deep” for a January 2015 article on the rising demand of back-country, big mountain resorts. Feed Media PR client, Taos Ski Valley, was a natural fit given that a new lift at the New Mexico resort has given skiers and riders access to Kachina Peak, previously “reserved” for those willing to hike it.
“Kachina offers an adventure similar to backcountry skiing and riding, and we know many of our visitors are actively seeking more of that type of experience,” says Jesse Keaveny, chief marketing officer for Taos Ski Valley.
With the triple chair lift, Taos increases their advanced and expert terrain by 50 percent, according to the Outside article.
“By adding the lift, we provide snowsports enthusiasts that thrill of untamed expert terrain, but in a more accessible—and controlled—way,” said Keaveny.
The article states that there are several resorts across the country, including Colorado’s Arapahoe Basin and Wyoming’s Jackson Hole, now offering backcountry experiences in the hopes of increasing inbound snowsport visitors.
